Once you have worked hard on writing a new post and you have finally published it, whats your next step in getting people to read it?
Of course there's Facebook and twitter is great for putting out tweets on you new material but what others ways are there?
its mainly google+, twitter and facebook for me... but as you know other blog directories like this one tends to help a little bit specially the day your launch a new post ^^

If you want to get people for more than just one post, go to other blogs and comment, follow through on comments that you receive, add your URL to the comments that you make. There's Google+, Facebook, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, Bloggers and a whole mess of pingable search engines. If you were using WordPress I would also recommend that you update tghe engines which are automatically notified, but I don't think that works with blogspot.

I mostly share on Twitter but I've used various things so each new posts pops up on Facebook, Google+ etc. I try to set up my blog on as many different services as possible so people have the most opportunity to see my blog.
A couple months ago I started using JustRetweet.com and my blog traffic tripled literally... Using justretweet.com is simple and easy.

Submit your post. set the amount of points you want to give for sharing your content on facebook, G+, and twitter.
I had my post shared by other who have over 50,000 followers (that's some nice exposure). Targeted followers might I add.

I think that visiting other people's blogs and leaving links is one good way to advertise. Also, using word of mouth is effective as well.

My software automatically pings the major services, Facebook picks up automatically, Twitter automatically, StumbleUpon I sometimes simply add as a Like, Google Plus I add now and then. Tumblr and Yahoo are automatic.
