I think it's safe to say that one thing we all might have in common is the fact that we do not want our lives to have been meaningless. We want to impact the world somehow, make a name for ourselves doing what we love and be remembered.
What is one thing you would like to be remembered for when that inevitable time comes?
Early in teen-teen days (yap!) I thought this would via literature. And early in twenty something- binary world just boosted up and thought may be some software would do it- (those days were rock- you make a mp3 player or email program and you have it done)
Honestly- now-a-days it seems I lost the interest- may be since I guess few people would remember me within or outside the family- :)
But- my instead idea to answer your question is:
I would like to write haiku while walking on the Moon (that hanging outside the earth). That should make it world-wide- milestone!
May be that's what I should try to do in coming days- if not sooner at least someday- :)
Note: if any of you going to do that you should attach my name for the shake of honesty!
lol!. It's nice to have dreams and to think outside the box. You might just be the one to write a haiku on the moon and be remembered by your family and the world. Keep dreams alive.
Do you know the name who invent binocular? Wheel? ...Plenty of things changes our lifestyles or whatever is great- we may not know the name beyond-
And we know plenty of name for their contribution- good or bad- at least our books spent ink for them-
What you do in your lifetime is all matters- how you live within- to know being remembered or not would please but may be only a spark for the inspiration-
Moonomo, I might not know their names but I am often grateful to them (specially when I turn on the shower and hot water pours out- I didn't always have that luxury) We might not remember who invented what but I feel like they left a mark behind and in these beautiful, necessary and useful tools they live on forever, they gave us a piece of them. Don't you agree?
Hellraiser ! Modern Day Mark Twain ! Champion Of The Underdog !
I may never be the next "Papa Hemingway," but I hope that I have let enough articles in newspapers and blogs on the Internet to make people "think."
My personal theory about why some writers like Mark Twain, William Faulkner, John Steinbeck, Papa Hemingway all survive the test of time is because their books and articles make people think - not just about the times that the writer lived in, but, how the old cliche' of "The More Things Change; The More They Stay The Same" really does seem to apply in life.
I read a writer's words and I sometimes smile to myself, "Here is a man or woman that I would like to sit down with and shoot the breeze over a cup of coffee or chew the fat over an ice cold beer.
I hope some reader in the future will read some of my words and say, "Sam is one of those guys I'd like to have a beer and shoot the breeze with," or " Sit down with a cup of coffee and a cigarette and play 20 questions with Sam and see if we agree on politics and religion."
I would hope that my articles, blog posts and photographs are around for centuries to come to cause people to think "Sam was a newspaper man at heart who really believed that if you keep people thinking then they will not wake up one day without any civil liberties or freedom."
I also think that all these great writers you admire spoke from the heart and each question, sentence and paragraph they raised was sincere. When we read others' writings- even if we've never met them, we can often relate to them. It is my hope and prayer that your wish comes true.
How do I want to be remembered? That's a great question that each of us should ask ourselves ... but I think what's more important than being remembered is that you lived a purposeful life - one that made a difference to life and that you lived up to life's expectations of you rather than your expectations of her ... if people remember you for the difference that you made to others then you lived a life of purpose and your life was well lived.
When I was a kid ,this was my dream.I thought I'll change the world, save the ppl, work for them and many more.
As I grew up........I found out........its really hard to save your own self too.About other ppl........well! Human brain is the most complicated thing in the universe. If U help them.........U can be wrong. If U don't help them...........U'll b wrong too.
So I guess self help is the best help.I'm almost nothing. But I'm happy with nothing.I think ppl will remember me for that. The most satisfied one...........how a person can b happy with the most crucial condition.Sp when they will b in trouble........they will remember me and get a bit of smile in their face.
I would like to be remember as someone who strive to be a better person, who speak out her mind, rise above the norm, doing all that keeping my feet on the ground and stay true to myself.
Hmm..now that is a thought provoking question. I want to be remembered as someone that treated everyone with respect and kindness, someone who always got back up when life knocked them down, for my work ethic, focus, intelligence and for going after my life long dream. And probably the most important one to me(although I am not there yet) for being a kind, compassionate dermatologist, that really makes a difference in the lives of people with skin conditions that can affect the quality of life. The last thing I want to be known as is a good cosmetic dermatologist, lol.
