How long did it take you to gain regular readers and grow traffic?

I just made my blog, The Women's Insider (http://www.thewomensinsider.com) public after working on it for several months. I made it public on February 11. Based on my google analytics, I am getting a few return visitors but about 80% new visitors each day. On average, I get about 40 visits a day--the best day has been 107 visits. How do you go about promoting your website and bringing people back to your website? Also, how did you grow your blog traffic?

Increases the visibility of your blog, you can comment on forums putting your blog address in the signature. You can also add your blog to toplists, I launched one : http://www.stopmarketrisk.com/stopatop.php

They are pages of links with their descriptions in which the links are sorted by the visitors they send to the toplist via the reciprocal link.

Do remember to use the power of comments on other blogs beside above mentioned tips...
Comments can also grant you some backlinks if you will comment on the CommentLuv enabled blogs , also remember to be active on forums...
