I found Twitter really helped, and just getting to know fellow bloggers in the same subject area - so for me originally it was the World of Warcraft blogging community although my blog now covers other things too.

mainly socializing on forums help to increase and make friends, you might want to add your blog to other directories... it might actually help 8)
building traffic is a very slow process but keep in mind some traffic is better then no traffic ^^

Submit ur articles to stumbleupon.com ...i receive huge traffic frm der... n also use youtube n metacafe to promote ur blogs!! ...
