How to KILL Reputation As A Blogger - Part One

Moonomo on Blogging Tips, Blogging, Tips, Tricks

It's too easy to KILL YOUR REPUTATION as a Blogger. Do following steps and you'll successfully prove yourself a "spammy" "annoying" Blogger, and guaranty to lose all your influence and therefore possibly lose quality readers:

* Include your blog link as a signature every time you post a comment, review, talks.

* Visit profile pages randomly and ask them to leave a comment on your blog or ask them to visit your blog site

* Never visit back to anyone and never say "thank you" even if they post a review on your blog or comment on your wall let alone any vote and friend request.

* Start a "Talks" with a question and include one-two words as a description or just put something meaningless since you already covered question as a title

* Reply your own "Talk" in every few minutes to BUMP and attract attention even when no one else is joining with you

This is the top 5 easiest way to KILL your reputation here on Bloggers and almost on every social community/network. If you think it helps, I would post few more BAD tricks in future.

What say you?

Note: Those aren't going to improve your reputation- who following 'em digging their own grave themselves! Be aware-

As a first time blogger, this information will surely be useful. Being a sole-proprietor in my hand crafting business, it may take some time to work my blogg into an every day event.

Thank you

Moonomo ∙ 30 Nov, 10

Thanks Shimmers- feel free to ask if you need helps anytime.

Sabita ∙ 30 Nov, 10

" Never visit back to anyone and never say "thank you" even if they post a review on your blog or comment on your wall let alone any vote and friend request."

it means we should never thanks ,but why????

but all the above suggestion was good..........

Moonomo ∙ 30 Nov, 10

Dear- those are BAD way! Those will not help you to build good relationship with readers! TRY NOT TO follow them, ignore those kind of activities so you wont reported by others and wont lose reputation or even wont BAN for such activites.

Please read full article!

Estephanie ∙ 30 Nov, 10

oh I have one more...
"she/he never reads the whole story before commenting just to have something to say even if it is way out of the topic"

Phamiel ∙ 30 Nov, 10

How is being grateful for voting or adding you as a friend, annoying? But, I will be careful in the future, thanks!

Moonomo ∙ 30 Nov, 10

It says if you don't be grateful and don't say thank you- people wont visit back again! ;)

Never follow those steps- they are BAD for your reputation.

Sabita ∙ 30 Nov, 10

very good advice it was.......

Denver Painters ∙ 30 Nov, 10

Great advice once again Moon! I see a little of this going on, but tend to overlook it, but glad you pointed this out. I'm so guilty, being fairly new, got overwhelmed. I have so much work ahead of me here, but at least I know what I need_ to do:

*Follow Back everyone's Blog, Following Mine.
*Giving Thanks to everyone's profile who befriended me.
*Giving Thanks to everyone's profile who voted me.
Then~
*Make a comment on everyone's blog.
*Drop back by each profile page, just to say Hi.
And~
*Write another blog article, carrying on daily activities.
There's Not enough time in the Day, Moon!!! :)

Moonomo ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Those are great, Philips. It could be even bigger, you know, let's proceed as our time permits. ;)

Vikram Karve ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Nicely written. I rememeber that when I started my blog and people commented and I never visited back nor did I thank them for their comments. My fellow bloggers thought this was not done and told me so and I quickly corrected myself.

Estephanie ∙ 1 Dec, 10

nice move..

Moonomo ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Thanks Vikram for sharing with us. When someone comment on us they too wait to see our replies, that's why we should take step to contact them back.

Balqis ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Thanks, Moon, for bringing this up. I hope more people will realise the importance of keeping their reputation intact rather than KILLING it.

Looking at the phrase, "to kill reputation" means doing all the things mentioned above will put bloggers on a losing end. Why? The points highlighted are things which we SHOUDN'T do if we want to stay as bloggers. It's really annoying getting some craps as listed above which are more for self-promotion and self-satisfaction rather than looking into a more important aspect of blogging.

Have we ever thought the feelings of others if we spam their blogs? And continously requesting others to view our blogs without returning the favours? Simple matter, which everyone can do is "Do what you want others to do unto you". It's really simple, you review my blog, I review yours. You vote me, I say thank you and vote for you too. Give genuine comments too, positive and constructive. Easy! Let's practice social aspects bearing in mind that it's really very important. Others would make a comeback if we are willing to do the same thing. Everyone needs a recognition, so it's our obligation to practice things which will make both sides happy. We make real connections with each other. What I mean is, you visit blogs because they are appealing and you enjoy reading them. So, leave aside, the few things mentioned above. You'll be loved for that! Your visits will be much awaited, appreciated and welcome.

What say you, Moon? Do you feel good? I feel good! :)

Moonomo ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Very correct- doing things right always feels good. Thanks for the excellent explanation. ;)

Denver Painters ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Great stuff Balqis! One more thing: I think what is being conveyed here is a successful blogger should have in a natural characteristic is

Giving More than Your Taking! ;)

Moonomo ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Exactly. :)

Sabita ∙ 1 Dec, 10

I agree with u all above....

Moonomo ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Thank you Sabita.

Sabita ∙ 1 Dec, 10

always welcome,....

Stef Gonzaga ∙ 1 Dec, 10

Hi Moonomo! This is an interesting topic, and one that every blogger must be aware of, so I'd like to share a couple of suggestions as well. :)

I agree with you on all pointers entirely except #1. It's true that inserting a link inside your post will make you look spammy on Bloggers.com since this isn't a typical forum. But in other places like the signature in your email or in a typical forum profile, it's actually okay to share your blog link - advisable even since one of the things people will notice in posts is the signature.

To encourage people to click on the link, you'll have to provide quality content and really help others who are looking for advice or help. As long as you don't keep inserting the link to your blog INSIDE your post, then it's all good. ;)

Moonomo ∙ 2 Dec, 10

Thank you Stef.

Including your link in your email is good- as long as you doing business emails- your blog or biz site indeed should be pointed out.

What we need to aware of is- not everywhere (and a lot of cases, not every time) including link would be good idea. Do it where applicable.

May be we are on same page in that sense.

Cissydette ∙ 2 Dec, 10

i think i should agree.. hehehehe :)

ROJS News ∙ 28 Dec, 10

Great advice. Thanks for the update on how to make Bloggers successful for freelance writers!

Cooking-varieties ∙ 11 Jan, 11

Patricia Lynne ∙ 12 Jan, 11

This is a good talk, reminds me why I need to remember to log in here and see whats up. Sometimes I forget >.

Moonomo ∙ 13 Jan, 11

Thank you! Yeap- we never know when something we could learn from the others- or even for some fun- it's a great place for 'em. ;)

Tim Blogger ∙ 13 Jan, 11

I feel bad since I do 1 of these things lol...

Moonomo ∙ 13 Jan, 11

I guess it's the first point? ;)

Tim Blogger ∙ 15 Jan, 11

lol I don't do that any more it was more the:

* Never visit back to anyone and never say "thank you" even if they post a review on your blog or comment on your wall let alone any vote and friend request.

I never get time to respond to everyone and feel bad sometimes!

Moonomo ∙ 16 Feb, 11

Even if it's late it's good to respond once in a while- sooner or later- but no response sometimes feels odd!

Never mind this late reply. :)

Tim Blogger ∙ 13 Jan, 11

Ravali ∙ 16 Feb, 11

To be MOON,we will be a good blogger..hehe..
well i think you said correct moon, have to try that!

Moonomo ∙ 18 Feb, 11

Thank you Rav! :)

Those are the things you shouldn't try at all! They are "bad marketing" tricks- in long run they spoil the reputation of the blogger/marketer.

Speedy And Klaat ∙ 17 Apr, 11

Thank you. It is great observation and nice share.....God bless

Ranjith ∙ 19 Apr, 11

Never saw such creative tips. Really speaking, there is no need to list these tips because destroying something is much easier than construction.
- Ranjith

Moonomo ∙ 19 Apr, 11

Listing 'em helps to keep us remind how easy it's to destroy reputation- and those who new could learn it quick- :)

Thank you!

NewsMeBack ∙ 19 Apr, 11

You're absolutely right.

Mohini Puranik ∙ 1 Jun, 11

Thanks a lot! Great tips! or don't s

Meriko ∙ 19 Jun, 11

This is soo true! I hate when people comment/talk to you but its like crystal clear that all they really wanna do is promote themselves... :l its like

"hey! nice blog! *writes a paragraph about their own blog* visit mine!"

...and then you find out they copy paste that same thing everywhere T_T

Parmitaborah ∙ 21 Jun, 11

Bella ∙ 3 Jul, 11

Again, I love how you write and I couldn't agree more with everything you just said. Please share more tips?

Moonomo ∙ 23 Jul, 11

Hey Bella- thank you! I've been with a crazy time lately-

Surely I'll put few more and try to post another talk-

Sonia ∙ 20 Jul, 11

I can smell "self promotion" coming a mile away. If the person is coming from a good place, then I might be more apt to follow them, but I mostly stick to following people with the same interests. * like attracts like *

If they have a nice blog, and talk about the same related subjects, then I will follow. I won't follow people for the sake of following. To me that is just fake.

Jennie ∙ 25 Jul, 11

You're so right Sonia. I do follow blogs that I like and will not follow any that don't have some interest for me. Because I like to return to the site and support their blog. When I first started I followed some blogs and they never returned the favor or checked out my blog at all. On a positive note, I've met some wonderful people and treasure our connection. I find it wonderful to meet people in other countries and have been inspired to try new things on my blog because of these connections.

Linda ∙ 7 Aug, 11

I follow everyone that makes an effort to vote, follow, google friend connect and reply or follow my blog. Courtsey is the word I'm looking for.

For me the more I show my real true self the more people tend to want follow or read what I'm sharing.

Tim B ∙ 7 Aug, 11

While I show my appreciate for those who follow me, I don't feel it's necessary to follow their blog back if I'm not going to take the time to actually read it on a daily basis. I try to follow blogs that truly interest me, and while someone might be interested in my content, it doesn't mean I want to read what they're producing (and vice versa).

ZoFem ∙ 7 Aug, 11

Hi Moonomo, this is beautiful. I will like to remark that these character is very common with big bloggers. For Instance, writers/blogger/social networkers like Paulo Coelho, Oprah, Ellen show may find it difficult to respond to hundred and thousands of comments to their post.
It therefore means that the DON'T is very relatively. It just not work in all occasions.
Once more, many thanks. This is a beautiful thought-provoking discussion.

Moonomo ∙ 7 Aug, 11

Thanks, ZoFem- Not really they are- :)

In real life, aren't we giving a party and grab the mic to say "Thanks" when it comes to say to a lot of friends/family/people? A true person always appreciate-

It may not literally saying "Thanks" to every individual- the more people you got to appreciate more you'll find interesting way to let them know- that's why those Big company spending Big money and brainstorm all the time-

Check carefully or following them some time you'll notice how they doing it- :)

Usually a person who like your work may not wait for your appreciation- but the beauty is- when you do both come closer and feel much friendliness along the way-

Greta ∙ 9 Aug, 11

Thanks...glad I haven't done any of those things yet. I won't now.

Greta ∙ 9 Aug, 11

One question: I get a lot of visitors to my blog, but virtually no comments. What do you make of that?

What would you like to say?
