How to start ads on blog?

Phil Holtberg on Blog, Advertising, Advice

Just wondering as I have only been at this a few months. At what point do you start placing ads on your blog? How do you go about getting ads?

Any advice is appreciated.

That's a good question Phil..........It depends on if you have enough traffic or visitors coming to your blog, have you got Google analytics tool?, to see how much traffic you are getting and check other statistics with it also.
Most of the companies that pay you so much per click , they won't accept you unless you have a lot of traffic established already. You can sign up for affiliate advertising and place ads that way . Shareasale and ClinkBank are easy to get started with and have lots of information to help you get started with their programs. I hope this little here gives you some tips to get started and I'll check back later on to see what goes.

Hi MissKathy!

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll look into those when I am ready. Just exploring the options as my blog is more for personal, fun, and creative outlets right now. Maybe at one point I might look into making money off my blogging and writing.

Wait...I'm very stupid with Technology at times...Miss Kathy or anybody explain that again please? lol

Phil Holtberg ∙ 22 weeks ago

Yarham - this is an honest question. Not kidding at all. Can you explain the significance of a PR3 google rank and what that means?

MissKathy ∙ 22 weeks ago

A low Page Rank, well 3 is and on up towards 10 but you never get a 10...................................

about page rank 3 for me it was very unusual, because I only have a PR1, but I try to pose as google adsense advertisers had already received, not bad for an extra income. I'm sure with the quality of the blog that you have, you can do anything. because with PR3 means of your blog content is very good in the eyes of google engine which means surely attract many advertisers. please try

You may want to check out AdHitz.com for ads on your blog.

Thanks for the recommendation. Are you using Adhitz? How id is working for you?

You might want to apply to adsense. Given your PR and traffic you'll probably get approved. They do have a rather long application process though so apply as soon as you can.

You might also want to try creating an amazon affiliates account. I've had some success with them.

If you're looking for a quick fix, infolinks might work. But I hate intext advertising because it's annoying to see all those links and popups when I read other people's stuff so I don't use them.

If you're interested in looking up some products that you can promote, try checking out clickbank and commission junction.

But before you decide on the affiliate stuff though (adsense and amazon you can just plaster on there anytime you want) really think about what you want your blog to become. Because it can get annoying for a lot of people/followers when they see ads that are there just for the sake of earning some money.

You've got a pretty good following and you'll want to keep and grow that. So be careful with the type of monetization you use.

If you're looking to learn about the subject before jumping in, check out Pat Flyn's stuff. He's got an amazingly useful podcast and he's always very honest about his stuff.

Plus he's not gonna try to sell you anything lol unlike a lot of the other "gurus" online. He'll maybe suggest something from time to time but he never does hard sell so he's easier to listen to and read.

Good luck.
