I use it as a notification for when I have a new blog post and show little previews of the next post here and there, except from that its also quite nice to connect with other bloggers on twitter and just chat 8)

I use Twitter to announce new blog posts with a few hashtags that are relevant. I do this a few times for each new post I do. Talking to other bloggers via twitter is another good way to traffic, people are curious.

YES! you are right. I do that too. Announce a new blog post and have hashtags to key words. How do we gauge the response and know if this helps.??

Tweets and retweets are the best! some 3rd party programs gather those top tweets and retweets like tweetmeme,diggs, delicious etc. so many. Tweets and retweets are your target!!

Twitter can be useful even a single tweet with your link can attract your followers and made them click on it, just make sure you have a catchy description.

This question has been on my mind the last week - I have twitter, and use it (though not very well maybe) to announce a post etc...but getting followers to increase Blog views is proving tough. Think i've gained 2 twitter followers all week. Not exactly a rush of activity.
I use blogger and the stats option there shows around 1 viewing a day - I find it hard to trust but looks to work.
I'm thinking my blog content is too much of a niche area.
Scratching my head to find out what I'm doing wrong...yours, Eamonn.

Well, we can't see your blog from here yet, but I'm guessing it's pretty new?? Takes time to get followers, lots of time, lots of networking. Just stick with it. Also, expand into other social media. The signal to noise ration on Twitter is pretty low.

Ditto to the above, though it's hard to track if I'm getting any hits from my Twitter usage. Maybe there's a trick to tracking from Twitter to web hits, but I don't know it.

There are sites that crawls your twitter post if you can get 10 retweets!! You dont get traffic from twitter but other sites gives you the traffic!!
Most people are bots there!! If you try to DM them,you get no reply!! I may have few followers but they sure love to retweet!! ahahaha

YES Casey, using twitter to direct readers to the blog with key words and hash tag is what I do and appears interesting. Did I get anybody , I do not know too11

Yep my blog is pretty new - 2 weeks! But just this week I have a piece I wrote that is going to be published on an online magazine in September.
Its going to be published online in two different parts and i'm writing another article for them (on the Lebanon) for September also.
So I'm hoping this will up my blog visits! Twitter i'm using regularly...but it does not seem to be getting any followers.

Twitter hasn't helped me so far, but I'm sure it eventually will. Its really just about getting another audience source, which is what all blogs really need.
