Bloggers Talks

I HAVE A QUESTION

LA Green

"Talks that encourage dropping links, include affiliate links or ask to follow/vote/like/review will be deleted. Accounts that contribute to such activities will be BANNED without further warning."

Don't we all do this? Yet I haven't see anyone's post get deleted or account get deleted; or haven't heard anyone talk about how they were deleted.

I've wondered about this too LA. Personally, I think it is reasonable to post a link to a specific post on your blog if it is relevant to the discussion, but I do think that irrelevant links are a nuisance and should be discouraged.

They should be but its also freedom of speech to some extent.; I mean let's say in this conversation you and I are having, I find some way to connect this to mentioning my website. It technically has nothing to do with the topic, but somehow www.lagreenmarketing.com get's mentioned in what I'm saying. Only because the conversation has made a slight change. But I understand, its considered spam but it's also a free community; anything that's free that allows you to post your opinions will become popular because everyone has an opinion. Naturally as a marketer, the first thing that comes to mind, there's a lot of people on this site and a free exposure. So it get's abused....

I feel that discussions should be just that, discussions, or should I say 'talks'. The fact remains that every time you come on here, anyone can access your blog by hovering over your name anyway. I understand that if you are referring to something that is relevant to the conversation and you need to leave a link then that's fine. But I personally feel that it has become a case of 'follow me and I'll follow you', without any type of discussion at all.

Do we really want followers who have no interest in our blogs anyway, or who will never return? Or do we just want the stats page to look high regardless?

Yes, we all want people to check out our blogs and follow us. I find many people/blogs by checking out what they are saying on the talks section.

Oh, I forgot to add that if Bloggers have a policy against spam etc, then they should use it, otherwise everyone will continue spamming because there is no repercussions, so to speak.

That's true Bloggers should enforce there rule. I mean FB makes it clear that they don't want people spamming other people's pages and when you do, they will ban you for a few days. If the problem consist, then you get banned for good. This may not stop a person because all one has to do is create a new FB account and the process continues. It's odd to me I guess because it's the internet. There's tons of websites that will let you advertise for free but here's the funny part, most of these websites are no name websites and you would have to advertise on multiple different ones in order for it to work; versus something like FB or Bloggers, websites that are more known, gives one more commercial success...I assume. lol
