Published blogs attract attention and continued following form the world over. Assuming that a blog is "localized", what can one do to make the blog known within 100km radius or within the nation? How to draw local attention to contents that will prompt following and action?
For local blogs you need local social media and the local press. When you concentrate on local news - and I'm not talking about commercial sites - you need to get people involved with interviews, with local news stories, with local events and similar. Most of your advertising is then word of mouth.
Sure, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn and many other international social media networks can help, as can Tumblr for photographic connections, but you mainly need to get people talking within your chosen area, and that will bring visitors in, especially when they get to see themselves and, most important of all, can interact with the site.
