Is anybody there?

I am intrigued by how quickly you will be noticed if you enter a new social medium like bloggers.com. Is it faster or slower than you might be spotted if you enter twitter.com or facebook..com?

I'm particularly interested in online business topics. One of my enthusiasms is for customer-centric marketing. That's trying to see things from the customer's point of view in trying to meet their needs.

I encourage anyone with an interest in business to join this talk and if they wish to follow or friend me, that would be fine too. My main goal in starting this talk is to see at what speed we may attract a crowd. If that is something that intrigues you too, perhaps you can do whatever is appropriate to spread the word and see how many participants we can get to sign in here.

I find twitter and facebook are great, but it takes a while to get up and running and 'noticed'.
I am hoping to turn my blog eventually into an online business....but we shall see

Hey! You need to work hard to get results and do not give up. When I re start my blog in 2010, I just did 2k pageviews monthly. Now, I just did 60k or more. Bloggers help me to learn a lot with everyday getting new tips and advice from fellow bloggers. I met interesting people and got notice. . Using Google+ is a plus. A lot of audience comes from google. Twitter is also help but for me, facebook did not work. cheers Jimmy

Hey it's great Catherine and Jimmy that you jumped aboard the 'bandwagon' so fast. Living in British Columbia, Canada, you're always behind the population centre of gravity in Northern American and even more so versus Europe.

That means sometimes a message like my opener is like dropping a stone down a very deep well. It's great to hear two splashes already. Thanks.

Personally I would suggest that you use twitter. Create a hashtag that you can continually use.

Maybe #WDYW or #WhatDoYouWant

Good suggestion. I believe that hashtags in Twitter are a very powerful way of trying to attract a crowd.

I use the acronym, AIDA.

A - Attention
I - Interest
D - Desire
A - Action

Gather some attention by using Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and my niche social networks. Create an Interest by promoting that I have a competition or promotion to join and grab free prizes via Rafflecopter's widget. This will create a desire for them to join, else if the prizes are more unique than others, I could sell it (with the creator/inventor's permission) for commission. Payment or Entry List is the action causing them to mass market my promo or competition while others pay for the goods.

Though I havn't tried this idea yet because I made something for sell yet. Its a strategy but will it work?

I like that acronym, AIDA, very much. I believe the biggest challenge is that A for attention. How do you get lots of people to become aware that you're there.

The best way is if you can get some viral action going. When lots of people want to share with their friends because they think their friends will want to hear about it, then you have a winner. :)
