Google rolled out a new Pagerank update on 2nd August 2012 and several blogs and websites were affected positively or negatively.
As for me, Four of my blogs got postive pageranks and I have written about what I thought was the criteria used by Google :

Affected two of my blog positively, from PR2 to PR3. Third blog is just starting out, so nothing going on there, PR-wise.

Casey, that's no mean feat. I got one PR3 out of about 10 blogs. Congratulations for achieving a doubles.
My 4 months old blog just got a 1/10 page rank. Still a long way to go to get a perfect 10/10 :-)
Khairul, what you got is enough to encourage you to d more. Your dream of 10/10 is achievable. All you need do is stay focused.

Hi, I also got a pagerank 2. My blog is about two months old and i haven't done much of link building.
Google is actually giving quality content a greater significance.
Looks like Google respects content more than links. My PR3 blog has just 8 links. Congratulations all the same.
I am amazed by website ranking it got PR 4 and my subpages like http://wideinf.org/fbpost got PR 6 !
Google alone can authoritatively say how this ranking is done. Maybe the inbound links from authority sites to that subpage are more than the ones to your home page.

Lucky you! I thought that achieving a PR2 in 4 months was a great feat. Now I can see that some people got as much as PR2 in 2 weeks and even PR3 in 3 weeks.
