Believe is just a longing proposition. We do not know for sure if there is life outside Earth.
Chances are there is, even similar enough to the carbon based life as we know it, but that is only statistics. There is not an iota of truth in it, and would not be until we could "see, hear, touch, smell, and taste" aliens without being abducted of lost consciousness. Any way, fat gain we could get from a civilization living 7 to zillion light-years from us, since the flight through time-worms is a bit far-fetched!
Meanwhile, let's try to be better neighbours to our fellow human who are nearer! :))

If there is life in space? It would be foolish not to think so, our universe is enormous. The chance of earth being the only planet that has life on it is minimalistic. We only know a tiny fraction of our still expanding universe, like a person who has only been in his own bedroom and wonders if there are other people outside of his personal space.
If there is intelligent life like us on other planets is a different question, but if there is life in other parts of our universe? Most likely.

This is one topic that I always have discussions with other people. I have also written a couple of articles about it on my blog. I feel that in the whole cosmos, Earth being the only planet that has life seems to be something that's difficult to believe.
