Bloggers Talks

Looking for honest reviews of my blog

Random Dysfunctions

Hi All,

I just started my blog 3 months ago. I started blogging just to blog. No intentions on making money from my blog (although that would be nice one day). Here's what I write about:

- Weird and stupid things people do
- Ironic things that happen in life
- WTF moments that make you scratch your head
- Sarcastic rants about life

I want to grow my readership by writing interesting content that people want to read (ie: things that people could relate to, or things that have happened to them)

But I need your help! Have a look and let me know what you think.

- How can I improve my blog?
- What can I write more about?
- Am I in a good / unique niche?

Honest feedback would be appreciated.

Let me think, the first thing that I noticed when I opend your blog was the plain black background. It is to dark, the blue is stunning and I am sure with a light gray it would look far beter. Also the green buttons are an eyesore with the stunning teal.
I like the way you write and your subject, no problems there.
But I admit if I do not like the layout I will not read the blog how good the articles might be.

Thanks for the quick response. I changed the green buttons to a similar teal. I wanted the buttons to "stand out" which is why I made them teal. I'm not sure if a totally different colour like purple would work or if I should just stick with the same teal. And as for the background, I changed it to a gray. When I previewed it with the light gray, it was way too light. I still want a darker tone to the blog just because the topics and writing style tend to be darker.

Hit refresh and have a look. What do you think?

I like it a lot. I haven't read any of the content but the fact that you changed the headlines on each of the boxes draws me in immediately (and I'll also be stealing that idea). I'm gonna go read a post or two now

Thanks so much joeydonn! Have a good at the content and let me know what you think. Content is really what I want to work on (though layout is definitely important too). Message me after.

G'day Random Blogger

It's clean, uncomplicated & well set out as everything is definable from everything else, in other words it’s easy to see what you have to offer also you can tell it’s not from a machine as some blogs/sites seem nonhumans & fake, you can see you in this which makes it very personal . However for me the back ground needs a little colour but don’t make it too busy.

Love
Mathew

Thanks Matthew! What do you think is a good colour? The overall theme of my blog is dark (sarcastic and cynical) so I didn't want to go too light. I'm not sure if that would take away from the theme and tone? What are your thoughts?

Jimbase ∙ 16 weeks ago

I like it! Maybe take on board what the others say about the black side space (apparently, white space is the in thing). Other than that it looks great. All i can add, and I'm far from an expert, is how about a little box at the end of your posts "about me", with a picture avatar and a thanks for reading text, most themes allow you to do this. Also, bigger social icons to catch the eye?
Keep up the good work :)
Jimi.

Thanks jimbase! That's a really good suggestion. I want to show people I appreciate them for reading and I want to encourage them to comment. I'll try something like that out. Thanks! Any suggestions on content (ie what I can improve on to be more interesting?

Just read some posts on Random Dysfunctions...truthful, observant, funny! Love the attitude! Love the posts about Office Space, What gives people the right to, and News Year's Resolutions. I think it's a great blog, you should get quite a following if people can find it. Good Luck!

Random Dysfunctions ∙ 16 weeks ago

Hi Matt, thanks so much! That's exactly the type of reaction I was looking for! :) I'm trying to reach a certain group of readers who would find my blog entertaining. But how do I get people to find it? Any suggestions? I publish my posts on social media including twitter. Other than networking on this site, what else?

Matt Kaey ∙ 16 weeks ago

I do have some ideas for promoting your blog. You can connect with me on Skype. I'll send you a private message with my Skype info if you're interested.

just looking at your site...I have no complaints. Colors work well together, website is easy to navigate, and it isn't an overabundance of information.

Haven't read through your posts but the description of your blog makes me want to follow along! So it's doing its job :)

Random Dysfunctions ∙ 16 weeks ago

Thanks Debora! I appreciate that a lot. After you have a read let me know how I can improve the content. Like I said it's a baby blog so I'm open to ideas on content enhancements. I really want to speak to people and write interesting things people can relate to. How can I become more noticed?

Debora Santos ∙ 16 weeks ago

I wish I could tell you how to become more noticed. I'm new to the blogging world so I'm trying to figure that out myself! But I'm thinking getting onto these blogging discussion boards is a great way. Here's an article I came across and found very interesting: http://socialtriggers.com/why-bloggers-fail/

you should check it out! It's a long read but totally worth it.

Nice color, neat template .. but i cant see any header... and it loads slow on my laptop.. you also have very low alexa rankings.

try improving your ranks by promoting your articles and learning basic SEO.. btw i can now see your banner but it loads really slow.. try compressing the image to reduce its size

regards from,

Yes ,,, Very Nice Looking Site. Let me add social to it,, i will do this for free as long as you provide me a link on the site or small banner. And you will need a Php/ and Mysql server. Go check out Twitter-Bootrap and think of your color scheme with pop-out member messengers and album pics, a wall posting system and Profile page with member image upload. tooltips, carousels, tab control, a custom forum with categories, topics, and replies. You have an idea that could be big with member involvement. You could start out small with the database and archive and or back up user data onto home disc. The idea of WTF i do like that. You could have control of members and moderators. I will start working on it if you wish(there is no hurry). you can start out with categories for WTF and have facebook type social along with it. I lost a facebook type social site i had designed in my home server, my computer crashed and i only had notes of everything. So it will take me some time to get it all tested and working again.

I really liked your blog. The idea is great, your a very clever writer, and your pieces are interesting. I've been blogging a while longer but being computer stupid myself it looks like you know much more about it than me so as far as advice I'd just say keep up the great work. I really liked it!

Random Dysfunctions ∙ 15 weeks ago

Thanks Shawn! Are you on Twitter? Maybe we can connect on Twitter. Would love to be updated on other bloggers' new posts right to my phone. @randomblogr
