New structure of the post! Let me know what you think, please!

My Travel Affairs on Blog Help, Blog, Post, Structure

Hello,

I have came up with a new structure to my posts.....please let me know if you think it is better or should I stick with the old one or maybe a bit of both from time to time....which one you would be more interested or read to the end?

new: http://www.mytravelaffairs.com/2012/10/18/nyc-best-breakfast/
old: http://www.mytravelaffairs.com/2012/07/28/wonders-of-mallorca/

I will appreciate all opinions.
Thanks a lot. Marysia

Really? Nobody is willing to advise me?

Hey there! I didn't see your post until now. I really prefer the new one. Much more attractive to the eye, in travel blogs the important thing is to catch the eye. When i visit a travel blog, i want to see new things and get brief tips, directions...not read a lot of text, but ofc that's my opinion, hope it was useful!

Thanks a lot Girl.

Yes, that is what I though, that for majority it will be more eye pleasing :)

I too prefer the new one, as the old one has way too much text in small print for me to read. I like the fact that the new one has some good quality pictures with good descriptions etc, as it goes straight to the point.

Great, thanks for the opinion.

The new one is much more engaging, because the photos are in the actual post. The older one looks like a wall of text. Having photos embedded in the body of the post sucks you in, keeps you engaged. You can't really scan the post with photos because your eye keeps getting attracted to the photos and you want to read more about those photos if they are good photos.

New one, definitely.

Ok, great, thanks a lot :)

I'm digging the new layout. I also try to pepper in images throughout my posts and it just helps it flow better.

My Travel Affairs ∙ 23 weeks ago

Ok. I used to give it my all to write meaningful and really helpful articles about places I have visited but I understand that not many have a time to read it through....:)

My Travel Affairs ∙ 22 weeks ago

Ok, another thing. I have change the structure of the post. Everyone seems to like it much more but my traffic dramatically went down....do you think it has anything to do with it?

Hmmm....after looking back at your website, the last two posts...actually that new york breakfast says its from Oct 18th, but its after the Dec 2nd.... I'd say looking at your last post, the best trips of 2012, I'd point out that there's no real stories there, just the links and a short 'tweet'. One of the delights about your blog is how detailed the information is. You should keep the same amount of writing, and pepper the pictures through it.

Thanks for advice Nod :) I didnt really feel so good with those almost empty pictures :)

My Travel Affairs ∙ 22 weeks ago

I have fixed this post a bit, as you were right. People read my blog for informations as well :)

My Travel Affairs ∙ 22 weeks ago

Ok, I will do :)

Hi! I think the formats work both ways. I like that you've listed the places that you love, it's great for sharing information. But I personally love the old post (the mallorca article) because it tells a story about your own experience when you visited the place. I read more about you, making me more connected to you. So, if your purpose for an article is simply to inform, the list format will do. But if you want to share your unique experience, the mallorca post format is great, too! :)

Diane ∙ 22 weeks ago

oh, and before I forgot, pictures would be great in the old format. :)

My Travel Affairs ∙ 22 weeks ago

Thanks Diane, I'm working on it. I will keep with stories about my experiences in the places I visit but will be adding more pictures in the actual article not only at the end....I have had a great time in NYC, but it was hard to write articles about it, as I do not treat this place as a trip, I just go there, hang around for a week with friends and come back so I wanted to give my readers idea of what I like etc .....

The new articles will be better....I already wrote few, I will let you all know when they are up so you can say what you think :)
