Ode To Lilith

Um....I am from marshmallow fluff and tang. I am from webber bread and Dr Pepper. I walked in flip flops- corderoy pants- remember when Michael Jackson was black? I am from old reruns of sitcoms from the 60's. My mother was a flower child. I crossed the plains into the 80's. I am from flowered patterns and gel shoes, florescent jumpers and bowl haircuts. I am from the Catholic church where you were told not to turn around lest you be turned into a pillar of salt and every nun carried a ruler. I am from pomegranite seeds and watermellon juice sticking to your face on a hot summer day. I remember mood rings and red pistachios staining your fingers. And I remember Lilith reborn into a folky music tribute- clean- cool- and collected. There is something not right about this. As if the cup had been taken away- replaced with near beer, Zima, and sopped up with old copies of newsweek. I am from politics gone awry and a war that will never end. I am from a tired future just waiting to see what will happen next.
