Wi-Fi doesn't mean anything. It was simply a clever name made to brand a product.
Some people simply added the idea of "Wireless Fidelity" during the developmental stages because they couldn't comprehend such a acronym-like name without a literal meaning.
That tagged phrase "Wireless Fidelity" was dropped soon after.
WI-FI is "wireless fidelity"; or can it be "wireless findings"; "wireless fiddling"; "wireless fiend"; "wireless fix";"wizard finder"; and so on.
Stretching my imagination. Any other ideas?
nothing because when I bought a router ...
I saw there WIRELESS FIDELITY and also some bar here in PASIG philippines the have this WIRELESS FIDELITY word below the WI-FI LOGO so bewildering :))
It's a trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance. If you see a product branded with the Wi-Fi logo, it means the particular device has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance to meet the IEEE standards.
But you know what? What ever it means I'm enjoying WI-FI. I can surf the net inside some malls even through my cell phone. And... it's for free! Great invention!
