Success is a state of mind

Digital Desperado

Success is a state of mind, it has nothing to do with hard work, if you enjoy what you're doing then it's not really hard is it?

If I enjoy what I'm doing then I am successful. Only you can define your success because only you can say when you're happy.

Money page views sales none of these things are success if they don't make you happy. What will you do if you become a celebrity super successful blogger and you're still not happy?

Great minds think alike! You know, I JUST put out a poem called "Stats hide the joy of blogging." I completely agree with you here, I'm incredibly happy with what success I've had, but I'm more happy with how much I've written, and what all I've written, and just the joy of writing. I'm having so much fun with the blog, and meeting people, and these discussions that I'm definitely successful in that aspect.

Absolutely, a fine idea of success u have. But ur life is not limited to u only. There is ur family, ur friends, ur state,ur nation & probably the world which expects something from u.Even material things can be visualized in spiritual terms. It depends on ur perception but truth remains truth.
Success is a journey, it can never be a destination. Enjoying what r u doing is fine but if others can share ur joy its the most beautiful endeavor ....!

That's a good way of seeing things. Sometimes we have to work hard to get to where we're going but it's still a case of enjoying every step you take along the way.

For me success is getting to the end of what you set out to achieve. That's when I say I am really happy that I succeeded in completing my goal.

I don't focus on stats, pageviews etc because I know it will distract me when blogging. Saying that, I'm not too shy to say I want everyone to visit but I need to concentrate on content more, otherwise you get millions of views but nobody staying around to read or re-visit. Good discussion.

Yes DD.. I agree with you. Success never means MONEY or LUXURIES! Success means satisfaction and happiness. One should always strive for the things which gives you happiness.
Like blogging, I never knew this would give me so much of satisfaction and success (as i define it).

Thanks for all the replies!

I will confess that page views do make me happy too... but everything in moderation, sometimes it's hard to enjoy what you're doing if you over focus I think.

I can't agree that success has nothing to do with hard work. There is a difference between being satisfied with maintaining the status quo and putting in effort to improve your own life or your career. But I agree that, for the most part, success is more a state of mind than hard work. Also, success is getting lucky. There are plenty of talented singers, actors and writers out there who are skilled, work hard and have the right mindset--however, not all of them will make a living doing what they love because of luck.
