At some point as individuals we have to hold ourselves accountable and stop the cycle of being hypocrites. I watch in amazement as a tour led by Tavis Smiley and Cornel West called the Poverty Tour, which would be much better served if it were named the Hypocrites Tour. Why do they feel that people who are living in poverty need to be told that they are in poverty? Even more insulting is that the Obama Administration is to blame? They would lead us to believe that the masses of Americans fell into poverty during the last 3 ½ years right? Why was there no poverty tour during the 8 years of the Bush Administration? Clearly the students at Princeton University have benefitted from the teachings of Cornel West more than Black students at Morris Brown College or Florida A&M? It amazes me how the Black “intellectuals” of this nation can sit on their high horse and utter this “rhetoric.” It is even sadder that there are people who actually listen to it.
