Thought of the day

LA Green

At work, I have an employee who works extremely slow. The first day I worked with him, I knew it was going be a LONG few weeks; even frustrating. It's been a month now and he still has not picked up the pace. The guys in my department are going nuts, the managers have talked to him about picking up the pace...yada yada yada...it's to the point were he could get fired. So since he's technically the black sheep at work, I've decided that, every time I work with him, I'm going to try different techniques that will keep him at his speed, yet get the work done in a timely manner. Guess what? The other day I did and it worked! My point: Let's not be quick to fire someone for being....different. Find there strength and work with it. Know your strength and work with that. Once one can come to that conclusion, life will be smooth sailing...maybe. We can not expect everyone in life to be on the same playing field; were all different; that's the beauty of life. =) Stay chill keep it real: L.A. GREEN

Spread the method you used. someone else might have the same problem and need a remedy. his actions was causing a reaction and loss of money for the company. You did good for both parties.

Teddy I will. I have a humble job. I push baskets at Sam's Club. The problem: He's not observant. He see's a row of baskets and ignores it. He goes elsewhere to find more baskets; most of the time, elsewhere may not have any baskets. So my method: Every time I see loose baskets, I set up a row, leave go to the next carrel and set up another row until there is about 10 to 15 rows. On the last row, I gather them up, and take them up front. The other rows I left behind, are rows for the other guys and myself to pick up; this allows for a rotation and it makes the load a tad bit lighter. He's not collecting these rows..he still trying to find loose baskets; so what I do, when I go back out I follow him and tell him, "take that row and I'll grab this one. lets go. move faster. We go up together and then go back out together; I tell him follow me, once we get out repeat the same process...now I'm able to leave a trail..I'm able to set up rows at a faster speed so he can collect while I get the extra work help our customers may need. The same method I'm sure can be used elsewhere; just need a little patients and time.

You my Friend, are a LEADER. We need more like you. Someday he may pass what you are teaching him on to someone else. A good deed does not always get praised, but a pebble dropped into the pond creates a ripple effect, and that reminds me of another experience I had as a young man. I will post it in a little while. Thanks, Your Friend .. Ted

Thank you...now if only management would acknowledge that...lol It's all good tho I'll keep doing what I'm doing until he becomes a solid worker...I mean it's good to know that he's responding. Yeah I'm interested in what you have to post....I like to read about other people's journey and what they went through in life....

I spent a lot of time in mexico. I have had soldiers ( a truck load ) all pointing their rifles at me and one can only hope there isn't a hair trigger in the midst. also had two different guy's pull their machete's on me, once when I was 13 and once when I was 24. I never ran from either one. I'll post those events sometime. Keep up the good work.
