Use your own domain name even if you are on Blogger

If anyone out there is using Blogger I want to make a suggestion to you. Get your own domain name registered and you will get more traffic to your blog in the long run.

There are many people out here who will not even visit a blog when they see that it that the URL has "blogspot" in it.

I'm not saying that they are right in feeling this way, but people make assumptions before they even give you a chance to prove that you blog has valuable content.

Registering a domain is very inexpensive and it will help with your branding as well. I know your blog is worth the investment so go for it!

Yes Ileane is right. Custom domain is VERYYYYYY much important for Blogger blogs. In addition to traffic second factor is more crucial. Your Blogger blog is at risk. It can be deleted anytime. If you use your custom domain and download regular backups of your blog, then you are safe. Otherwise you may lost your hard work of several months and even years. It has happened with many people that there blogs got deleted and lost them forever.

A few years ago I started on a blogspot.com. I later found out about wordpress and the importance of registering my own domain.

I'm sure this will not happen, but what if Google decides to stop the service of blogspot? Then most likely your hard work is flushed down the drain - GONE!

Having your own domain in your own name means you are the owner, it's yours. It's always good to own your own websites or anything for that matter.

If you want to sell your website later on you will be able to do so, because it's yours. You can't sell blogspot website.

Hate to say it, but it's true.

Lastly, you will be more authoritative in your chosen market. That is a "Ginormous" plus for your business or personal brand.

A .com domain is highly recommended!

Marc, I'm slightly confused as I'm not an expert at this. Can you tell me what you need to do if you already have your own domain name please? How do you put it on your blog though? My blog is on blogspot, but how do you marry up the domain name & blogspot blog together?

Hope I made my question clear enough for you to understand it.

All answers are welcome, as I need to learn this. Thanks
