What Do You Think About The mosque been put near the World Trade Center?

Gwendolyn says 650 days ago

I am just wondering, because I don't like it. Let me tell you why. Now Muslim terrorist knocked down our World Trade Center towers and now The Muslims want to build a mosque near the site? I don't know but this is just me. It seems to me like they want to put some kind of reminder there or something. You know what I mean. Like a trophy. I feel they can pick somewhere else in New York and they want to put it there. Just my opinion.

i agree with you! I have heard of the news that somebody is raising money to build a large scale gay bar near by, with one of the intention as scaring away the mosque, i don't know whether that would work, but it seems like a brilliant idea, as least a very creative one!

Hi Jasmine. Anything is better than putting a mosque nearby. I think that it is disrespectful to America and to the people that died in that tragedy.

Bruno Rodrigues says 650 days ago

A trophy? Really? Do you realize that the supporters of the mosque are not terrorists? I agree that it's insensitive to the families of the victims and don't support the building of it. That's why someone came up with the idea of building a gay bar nearby. They're using the same arguments the mosque supporters are using knowing full well how Muslims feel about alcohol and homosexuality.

Gwendolyn says 650 days ago

Yes I realize that. But why put it there?

Bruno Rodrigues says 650 days ago

The simple reason is because they can. They are fully in their right to do so. The United States is one of the few countries to practices a true right to the freedom of religion. In a way, letting them build the mosque is a testament to that. That freedom doesn't exist in Muslim countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh. The only real way to beat the terrorists is to stop fighting and show them who's better. Who is the more evolved person? Who is the more loving, tolerant, accepting, etc. Fighting only gets you one thing - more fighting. The Middle East is the perfect example of this. Also, remember that the people that are building the mosque and the people that will eventually visit it are not the terrorists of 9/11 and such. Most of them will be Americans and New Yorkers like us who love this country and the freedoms it provides. There is a world of difference between Islam in the Middle East and Islam in other parts of the world.
But, again, I am not in agreement with the building of the mosque. Would I stop it from being built? No. As I mentioned, they have the right to build it. I have the right the complain about it, but that's about it. This is why I think the gay bar next door idea is genius. Those people are using the same logic as the mosque builders. Obama said that America's commitment to the freedom of religion should be unshakable. The gay bar is expressing individual freedoms and equal rights regardless of sexual preference. Here is a quote from Greg Gutfeld (the gentlemen who's opening the bar):

"I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also Islamic gay men. To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space. This is not a joke. I've already spoken to a number of investors, who have pledged their support in this bipartisan bid for understanding and tolerance,"

gay bar near the mosque means that is disrespectful to muslims everyone have to respect others religion and one more thing muslims are not terrorist, islam not allowed us to scare people or kill innocent people. islam is a religion of peace.

Bruno Rodrigues says 650 days ago

There is no such thing as a religion of peace (except maybe Buddhism or something). I didn't say all Muslims are terrorists, but the ones that caused the 9/11 attacks were. Religion is subjective and up to the person practicing it. You say it doesn't allow you to kill innocents. Well, many Muslims see all non-Muslims are "guilty." This is how some of them justify their actions. Regardless of what you say, they claim their actions are in sync with their religion, and the religion they claim affiliation to is Islam. It's similar to me claiming to be Catholic but not condoning the raping of children, actions of the KKK, the Spanish Inquisition, Salem witch hunts, etc. The problem isn't whether or not the religion is peaceful. It's the person practicing it. How is it that such a peaceful religion comes from the most war-torn region on the planet?
Building a Mosque near the resting place of over 3000 people is also disrepectful to the families of the victims. People should be respected. Just as the people building the mosque have a right to do so regardless of who they offend, the people building a gay bar next to it also have a right to do so.

Gwendolyn says 650 days ago

Your are right Sayyed. I think that it is disrespectful on both parts. But I am leaning more over to the Muslims because I feel that it is not the place to put a mosque after a tragedy caused by Muslim terroist.

Gwendolyn says 650 days ago

Gay terrorist didn't knock down the Twin Towers, Muslim terrorist did. Now I am not saying that all Muslim people are terrorist or even bad people. I am just saying look at the whole situation that happened. Sure they have a right to put a mosque there, but I think that they shouldn't. If it is put there, I think that trouble will start like maybe violence by people who are still angry about 9/11, there may be protesters, bombings like they do the abortion clinics. So Bruno Rodriguez, I am looking at the situation and people who have lost their lives in a senseless tragedy. They can put it some where else instead of trying to stir up trouble by putting it there.

Bruno Rodrigues says 650 days ago

If people start behaving violent, then they'll be no better than the terrorists they hate so much. So, what does that say about them? If that's the kind of people they are, then they're no better than the 9/11 terrorists.

Gwendolyn says 649 days ago

Even so Bruno, it can happen.

Bruno Rodrigues says 649 days ago

Anything can happen. How many rights and freedoms are willing to give up or take away from people b/c of things that "can happen"?

Gwendolyn says 649 days ago

And look at how many people were killed fighting for rights and freedom and making their points. This could be added violence. Children and families were killed because of people fight for rights and freedom and trying to make a point. So why create it? Most polls have people against it.No matter what you say I won't agree with you just like right now whatever I say you disagree but I still don't think it should go there. But if it does or does not get build there, this is just hour opinions and it's nothing we can really do about it and thats it.

Bruno Rodrigues says 649 days ago

Rights and freedoms should be fought for. That's how this country was built. I'm actually not disagreeing with you. I don't think they should build the mosque. The difference in our opinions is that you think they should have their right to build it taken away, while I don't.

Gwendolyn says 649 days ago

Only because of the circumstances. Thats all. Everyone does have a right in America. Bruno, I am just stating how I feel in that particular area. If they would build there, I can't do anything about it and I can assure you that I am not going to go to New York and kill Muslim families over this. But I just don't like the idea of it being there. In that spot I mean, not in New York.

What would you say?
