hey Matt, just read your post about friendship, and also the post about the ridiculous expectations of women not men. Very interesting point of view for both posts.
My favorite part is when you talk about your friend who picked you up without asking. "He said, "I'm coming to pick you up". Not, "Yea man, that sucks"; not, "Don't worry things will be okay"; Not even, "Do you want to go do something". He didn't ask my permission—he did what needed to be done. He did what true friends do. "

That's what friendship should be: not having to ask for it, not having to ask for anything. True friends understand each other without talking, and can talk for hours with no specific reason :)

It is putting your friend's needs above your own sometimes without expecting anything in return. But I also think frienship is a two way street. If you are constantly being there for someone, and that someone is always MIA, well you move on. Same rule applies for family. I don't care about being blood related: if there is no real relationship, why fake it?
