Is it because you love to write?
want to make money?
exposure?
passion?
or is it a combination of all of the above
My reason for blogging started with a renewed passion for writing after writer's block gripped me for almost twenty years. I then really enjoyed the exposure especially knowing that my posts were helping others. I haven't gotten to the point where money is an issue but I do see blogging as an opportunity to have some extra income down the road. I hope you share your thoughts on this as well.
cheers

No particular reason, although I enjoy writing, and I do like to make people think. My most recent post, for example, takes a well-known saying and shows why it isn't quite as clever as it first appears:

I agree with your post Dennis, the Camel does have more virtues than the horse. Your post does cause the reader to think and look at a topic that is not "media related" but of educational value. Thanks for responding :))
In all honesty, I started my blog to promote the light sculpture site I have started with my partner. Although that was the motivation, I'm getting into it now and don't consider it a chore.
I truly enjoy writing, I'm so glad the opportunity of blogging came along to allow us all a chance to write and share our passions.
blogging is passion for me to express my feeling.......n i'm using my blog to let my nearest friend express their feeling through their artical...
I fancy myself to be something of a write, so I view blogging as a way to say something, write and connect. I blog because I want to share, learn and meet new people and discover new ideas and places.
Love from Jo'burg
A very good reason for blogging, I fancy meeting new people as well. Networking for personal & professional needs.
Love from Canada :))
Ive always loved creative writing. Im a freelance makeup artist who really doesnt have time to market my business via youtube these days. So when I have the time, I write. Instead of just talking about makeup products, I want to talk about skin care and easy DIY tips anyone can try. Blogging for money would be nice :) but Im not sure how to get into doing product reviews yet.
Anyway, when you have time, please visit my blog at: http://www.mychokolatekisses.blogspot.com

Cheers
I blog because I do love to write, but I also blog because of passion and to express opinions and ideas. Blogging is also a great outlet for me. My life is pretty stressful, and my blog gives me a great way to relieve stress and relax a little bit.
I'm with you Kristen, if you read my current post you will see why I rekindled my love of writing. I've attached it here http://gailsforum.blogspot.ca/2012/03/im-writer.html and you are so right about it being a great way to relieve stress.
Keep Blogging
Cheers
I do blogging to share information with others and try to build a good profile in online portals.
It is a good reason as well. If we can provide others with valuable information that can enrich their lives that is a bonus.
cheers
I lead a very academic life but i have a passion for other things so i blog for my own enjoyment and to ensure i keep up with my creative side.
My blog combines my love of fashion and music
I agree about the creative side, in my day-to-day job I don't get to use much creativity so this is a great outlet for me
I just love writing and being creative so they drive my motivation to blog.
I write about issues regarding earths treasure-chest so that everybody is aware of what we have on this lovely planet... many people still don't seem to know or simply don't care!!!
We should all care with global warming it is evident that we are losing the greatest treasure of all - our natural resources. Keep blogging about it Odette that's great.
I have way too many creative ideas to keep sheltered in my head! Not only that, but blogging gives me a way to communicate and interact with other people that may share/disagree with my thoughts.
Very true Crystal, creative energy is meant to be unleashed not sheltered. Happy Blogging
I think it's the same reason with the others. I love putting my thoughts in words through writing coz' I am too shy to express it orally :P
I agree with you, I always fumble my words when speaking especially since my background is french I don't always say things the way I should but through writing my personality shines.
this was a great post getting a lot of responses and that is why I started blogging was to try and promote my biz opp. But come to find out I'm not that great of a sales person I'm really bad at lying to people about anything so I just tell people the truth about the programs that I promote.
But the one thing I have noticed about my way of selling and blogging is I don't get a lot of traffic or people to sign up the ones I do get stay around and make money just like me because they learn to trust me instead of most of the other sells people out there today that will tell you anything to get you to join their program and then just leave you hanging after they get what they want.
So now I just blog to try and help other people that have been left behind and try to help them figure out where to go next even if they are not signed up for one of my programs because I just plan like helping people out with anything that I can.
So thank you for this post and the opp to express my thoughts in a different way.
I blog because I love it. In every blog/Website, I want to give a postive example in people lives.

that's awesome Shanay providing a positive example to others is a great reason to blog.
I like writing ,If I made ANY money .Well that would be an absolute dream but since I get a max of about 20 hits a post ..that isn't going to happen! I like expressing all the random thoughts I have jumbled up in my head by writing , it's that simple really .
Hi Lacey hand in there with the page hits, I started my blog only about a year and a half ago and I've gotten 20000 page hits but you have to market yourself. Don't depend on others send your blog to friends and family and acquaintances through social networking and email that's what I did and little by little my fan base grew. Keep blogging and if you want to earn an income don't lose faith just market yourself.
i just love to write its that simple. I'm writing a book too but i just find blogging fun and a brilliant outlet for all the crazy things that roam around in this head of mine.
I agree with you Amanda. I started blogging at a time where I needed an outlet and it proved extremely beneficial emotionally and creatively.
I started blogging because as I was planning my family's move to South America I found myself reading and enjoying many expat blogs, so I decided to start a blog to document our own move and adjustment. Then I discovered that I really enjoy blogging and kept it up after we moved back to the USA to document our adjustment back. Now I just blog to blog. :)
That's great Carolyn, I hope once I get to travel a bit more to keep a blog diary of my adventures. Keep Blogging :))
at first i dont like blogging. i just wanted to share my mobile photography collections at first and I found out that blogging is intetesting.. www.dlanyerzone.com
It is a great way to convey a story along with the photographs, I always find that a picture is beautiful but the story behind it can sometimes take the picture to new heights.
A fun way to connect with people and share stories, opinions, creativity, etc. Only recently did I decide to get serious about monetizing. The passion has to be ever-present or everything else goes out the window!
Passion is key, if it's only about the money I believe you can see the transparency in the blog. When passion is behind it you can connect to the writer and the blog.
Business.Oh and I seen once a conspiracy blog (with full of lies and delusions) which has very high rank. So I thought even that kind of person has that rank why should not I do?
I want everyone to be like me . haha. That and sometimes its nice to have a forum to vent and let it all out.

It's mainly a hobby for both us. Michael loves to write while I do have the passion for photography. And since we both love travelling and food, we just collaborated on doing things together and putting them as a journal.
