What's Happening to our Discussions Here?

Rumpunch Drunk on Discussions, Topic

I would like to see us all using the discussions area to discuss things.

It's not about trying to get someone to exchange links, or follow your blog and you'll follow theirs. But rather, it's about using the discussions to talk to one another on an equal level about anything you want without asking for anything in return. If people really like what you have said, then they will in no doubt want to find out who you are by visiting your profile or blog.

Discussions should be about getting people involved in a conversation about an interesting topic. For example: What are your New Years resolutions? etc.....

The only way we can all get this back on track is by abiding to what discussions was intended for. PLEASE help me to get the discussions going again for 2013.

I'm in, I use to love this place, I met some wonderful bloggers here and got some fantastic blog idea but it's gone downhill, I'd love to see it back to the way it use to be. Before all the tacky self promotion took over.

I'm in that same boat. Amazing how many friends I made on here just a few months ago, now they hardly ever post on here, because they all left due to the spam.

Completely agree with you all. The scammers and spammers have sent me packing. Looking for a better site for interacting and meeting other bloggers.

YESSSSSSS , FINALLY I see people feeling the same way I do. Put the fire to it some more RUMPUNCH DRUNK. Way to go !!!

I agree completely. What I'd love to see is communication and growth between bloggers. A community of like-minded individuals is more interesting, and more fulfilling, than link/vote spamming will ever people.

I'd love to see more discussions about blogging in general, and let us build a community here. WE CAN REBUILD IT, WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!

Everything in moderation. To much of one thing creates a boring none growing situation. P.S. That's just my opinion of course. so that don't really count for much .

Brilliant. It seems that I'm not the only one here into discussions. So I'm going to get the ball rolling right now.

I'm choosing a nice and easy subject to discuss here and I'm hoping that we all get involved in it. Just a simply sentence will do. If we call each one

Discussion Topics: (followed by the title of what you want to discuss) it will help us know that this is for real. Also try not to link drop, but no harm in checking out each others blog if we want to......

If any of you start a discussion please also send me a private message so that I get alerted that you doing something and I will do my best to reply to your discussion.

I'M STARTING A NEW QUICK TOPIC NOW - COME FIND ME IN DISCUSSIONS Are you all in?

I'M IN, I have always been for this type of blogging. I'll do it.

I'm always in RPD! Hehe. Fact is, this place was a great place to find great bloggers to read and commune with. I've met some great people, and followed them off site. Joined a community on FaceBook one started, and just overall was amazed to find a community of people discussing cool topics and helping each other out.

But then I just saw it all overrun by spam. I don't mind the, "Hey I need to read more, so post your site here!" post, but the exchanges and such.... And the people obsessed with the arbitrary Follow/Vote/Friend system here.... Or the people messaging you say, "Hi, please follow me here:" bit....

All in all, the best promotion anyone can give for their blog, is to enter discussions and talks and forums and write with the same quality they do on their blog. That is how you truly drive traffic. The people that do that, are the people I follow off site and spend my time wanting to read more of.

I'm so glad with all the valid responses here. Whenever anyone here starts a discussion please let me know by either sending a private message or by writing on my profile wall so I don't miss it., and I will try my best to get involved too.

Remember, to tell everyone on your discussions NOT to 'link drop' etc....... We can all help to stop the spamming/spammers. THANKS FRIENDS :) And don't forget to tell others.

I'm in. We can continue to keep this an interactive blogger community.

Selya Rollins ∙ 20 weeks ago

Sounds like a good plan to me, I'm new here, so looking forward to this kind of community. A few of us can stick together and keep the discussion going, until it becomes consistent with all of us participating.

Rumpunch Drunk ∙ 20 weeks ago

That's right Selya Rollins. Consistency is the key in all of this. We all want to make bloggers a good place to have great discussions. So let's all participate in making a change for the better here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL
