Bloggers Talks

when is it too far to talk about other bloggers?

UsagiSan

recently.. i found a site that would post "secret" post about other bloggers. and at first i thought it was nice and innocent. it was critiques on improvement and stuff... but as i read further... it got just plain mean... stuff like religion..race.. and lots of name calling .. ( bitch..slut...etc) so the question is

When is it too far to talk about other bloggers?

i wrote a post about this

There's nothing like anonymity to bring out the worst in people.... In the end, there is no really good answer to that one, because trolls are going to troll whenever they can. Main thing I'd say is just don't hurt people's feelings. Bloggers really put a ton of effort into their blog, and I love critiques, but they have to remain constructive.

I completely agree with what Dan has said here. It doesn't matter if someone disagrees with a bloggers point of view as long as they are respectful or constructive. But if you are going to name call just for the fun of it, and it is personal with nothing to do with a post, then I guess you must be a troll of some type.

If people are not happy about a blog then they have the option not to return but if you keep coming back with abusive messages then something is seriously wrong with you. Just my thoughts on this.
Good discussion by the way :)

Posting "secret" posts about other bloggers? That sounds interesting. Is it kept confidential to keep these posts secret? Like anonymously posting them?

To answer the question, one would actually take it too far is when the topic has gone too personal. Like by race or by gender or by religion, etc. Those kinds of net etiquette should still be enforced and upheld especially since Blogworld 2010 Conference.

Of course, all this can be avoided if people keep it to themselves and not spread them in the Internet.

yes it is posted anonymously and confidential ( if you want) ... and it interesting to read but its so mean... calling each others fat,, ugly sluts.. and religion/race has been brought up there..

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. When it goes overboard to a mean personal attack that is carrying it too far. There will always be those out there that are just mean spirited and will put down everything. Best to ignore the trolls and focus on the positive.

I wouldn't like it if someone was using my blog for any purpose without my permission, even if it was some sort of constructive criticism and they weren't asked for their opinion. So, of course getting personal is just even worse...

If you like a blog, follow it. If you don't like it, don't follow. That's it. But as long as there are people who like reading that crap, there's not much you can do, I guess.

I'll stand firmly by value in that unless you have the guts to say something to someone face to face, don't say it behind their backs, that means you're nothing but a coward. Unfortunately cyber bullying is real, people belief because they hid behind an anonymous name they can do what they want, at the end of the day, you have to do a retro-spection, if you can say these things about people what does it say about the person that you truly are?
