Recently, two prominent figures in the entertainment industry in Manila went through a patheic tragedy. Both of them lost their sons. The known actor lost his eldest son to suicide because of love problem.And the other son of the other TV host apparently overdived from a condo veranda.
Incidentally,both parents decided to donate the "valuable eyes"of their sons to a reputable eye bank.They said it was a good gesture and a humanitarian thing to do.
Do you agree with them or are you a puritan who audibly thinks that "eyes are personal property" and therefore should not be distributed for charity.?

According to Buddhism , Donation of Body parts considered as a Great "Kusala" , giving life is itz Ultimate achievement..sure as hell i will..

In "Seven Pounds" Will Smith made me think about such donation! From the IMDB:

May be it sounds like that. Really I was impressed by that movie (I just watched it few days back and still it has effect on me) and realized such donation could makes sense to someone.

Of course I would. It's not like I'm gonna need them anyway. Besides- I'm getting cremated! As for my loved ones? If it is their wish to do so- then I would honor that.

..........even though, she is in the other world, she will "not see me go after another one", since I have removed her eyes.
ON A SERIOUS NOTE, I have no right to do that pledging of her eyes and other organs, unless my lover has instructed me or left a pledge. PERSONALLY, I have already pledged and my family members ARE AWARE TO DO SO, when I am gone.

Before he/she died I would ask if that is what he/she would like and if he/she said no then no, but if he/she said yes the yes.

We do not have the right or any given permission to have organs of a dead person removed for whatever intent. It is as good as stealing behind their back.
We can however start talking about it, show others what we have pledged and encourage their pledging.
This would be doubly meaningful. You as a promoter and they consenting to do so.

My husband died early in the a.m. on February 26. Years ago we discussed this and we decided that we would be organ donors. He hadn't been dead more than a few hours when a man called asking me 45 minutes worth of questions in order to determine what they could harvest from my husband's body. The man was very compassionate and said he understood that I probably didn't want to deal with this right then but he's appreciate it if I would help him all I could. It was VERY HARD but IT WAS WORTH IT. Someone right now has the gift of sight because, with the Lord's help, I was able to maintain my composure long enough to answer his questions. I GAVE AWAY MY HUSBAND'S EYES AND I HAVE NO REGRETS. If he can't use them anymore, why not let someone else be blessed by them.

I think I'd leave the decision of donating another person's eyes to that person, but I'd be more than willing to donate my own!

I'm a registered organ donor. Should something happen to me prematurely, I'd rather have my organs help someone than rot in a body I no longer need. Imagine how amazing the gift of sight could be to a blind person. I work in a hospital that specializes in liver transplants. There isn't much more you can give someone compared to the gift of life.
How do you feel about it?
