wordpress/blogspot...

Lorie

this is probably a really stupid question, but what is the difference between blogspot and wordpress?

I have used both briefly before, and found I preferred the free layout templates on wordpress much more than blogspot's so went with wordpress instead (hisndherpes.wordpress.com) but I feel as if more people are on blogspot.

apologies if I'm just being stupid! which blog site would you recommend and why?

Aww no it's not a stupid question, infact I wonder about that too.....I chose blogspot because I thought it was easier to use. :P

I think Wordpress is designed more for writing, so if you like to write storys, reviews etc that is a good one and some has said it gets more traffic?...

I use blogger due to the fact it seems easy n the style is more or less like Xanga, a bloghost i used to use when i was little... because of this I more or less stuck to it 8)

Just move from hisndherpes.wordpress.com to own domain site in wordpress !

Download the script from wordpress.org and install on your site (Ask me for free installation)

You need to pay a little amount for hosting (need to buy hosting and I am providing hosting for 35$ ) and then you can have the unlimited power more and far better than blogspot !

Make your website professional like mine http://wideinfo.org [Hosted on Wordpress]

I've had two blogs before my current one. The first one was because my university advised us to make one to display our work. I think they mentioned blogspot and I just went with it without thinking about other platforms. I then used it for the second and third just because it was what I was used to using.

I always intended to have a go at Wordpress, to see the difference myself but I have no need right now for two blogs.

I can't really give you a comparison, based on the fact that I haven't used Wordpress, but I do find blogspot extremely simple to use.

Just from what I've been led to believe, Blogspot is far more user friendly, but Wordpress is more open ended. Just as Windows is more user friendly, but Linux is more open ended.

Having said that, I'm on Blogspot, as that was what I chose when I was still uber-new to blogging. I'm still very happy with my choice, though every now and then I get jealous at some of the things people can do with Wordpress when they put their mind to it.

I use blogspot, because I find it easy to navigate.
Also other bloggers can follow easily via Google Friend Connect!

I've used both but prefer wordpress because you can do a lot more to it in my opinion. I used to run my blogs on the free accounts but have since bought my own hosting so that I've got the freedom to monetize my site any way I want. In my opinion, WP wins over blogspot in customizability. But then again I could just be biased since I learned to use WP first and initially found blogspot a bit confusing lol.

You're not stupid friend. Blogger is better than wordpress.com. If you visit search engines, the major results you find on the front pages are custom domains and blogspot blogs. wordpress.com blogs don't get good rankings like blogspot blogs. If you are thinking of using a better Wordpres blog (which is self hosted), Wordpress.org is the best to go for. All you need is to pay for a c-panel hosting space and install the Wordpress app for free. Self hosted wordpress blogs are the best because you own your contents. On other blogging platforms, your contents are owned by the host as your blog could be deleted anytime you violate their terms.

To add this, don't confuse wordpress.com to wordpress.org. They are two different platforms. Blogger is better than wordpress.com but wordpress.org is the best blogging platform.

I used both blogspot and wordpress in the past, although I am now using blogspot. The reason for my choice was because I also think that there are more bloggers on blogspot, than on wordpress. I agree with others that blogspot is more user friendly, but you can play with your layouts more on wordpress. I might move to wordpress one day though (when I feel like having more custom built layout), who knows!
