Working as a call center agent

Honeylyn Perez on Facebook

This is my first time to work in a BPO industry. I am working as an offshore call center agent for a specific US telecommunication provider/net. Everyday, I am talking to almost 60-100 person in 9 hours. Americans who have billing concern. 75% of my customer over the phone says they are satisfied with the service, 5% just calling in to make a dispute, 3% are obscene caller, 2% wrong number, 5% irate and 10% love my voice... :D

People might say that dealing with different type of customer over the phone regarding with billing is the most terrible job. But for me, this is the most enjoyable job ever!

I love talking to different kind people, having diff characters and adopting their language and nationality even though I am a filipina.

Challenge? yes...

Nice stats! Without challenge, isn't job becomes boredom?

Love to see you enjoying your work. Keep it up. :)

It depends on how you view your job...

In a similar note, I am recruiting home bound mothers to do appointments setting for me. They get paid on every sales that results from my demos, and the phone bill is borne by me. I am trying to blend the social responsibility aspect by helping single mothers or lower income group mothers complement home income with extra cash and are with their children as well. I can only pray it works as my advertisements are showing up now. Even if it just 3 to 5 mothers earning Malaysian Ringit 300 to 1,800..
it will be a boost to family finance.

I've worked in 2 call centres now doing market and social research and personally i enjoy it, it is far from being the worst job in the world. Good money, interesting people on the phone and the hours are flexible to suit my needs.

But like all places of work it just depends on the atmosphere, there is one very large call centre in my town that every single person aged 18-30 who lives locally have worked there and every single person i've ever met who has worked there has used the sentence "working for the devil" or something along those lines...

i was sacked after 6 hours and because of what i know now about that place i'm glad i was :)

I worked in a call centre for a year. Trust me it's fun as hell. I feel I was put on this planet to either sell or irritate people. Just make sure you keep it interesting!

it would be quite interesting in the starting but after a period of 1year you will start feeling headache and other problem because of continuously talking....
