Would you get married in a country other than your own?

Darren Francis on Photography, Wedding, Travel, Marriage, Events, Pictures

Hi Guys, just covered a wedding of a couple from Australia who got married in Thailand. It turned out great! http://www.darrenf.com/blog/deepak-and-jacintas-wedding-at-impiana-resort-chaweng-noi-koh-samui-thailand

I'm wondering, how many of you would do the same? There are pros can cons.

I would definitely say yes to that! Actually if you ask me, I am more interested in having a secret wedding ceremony with my lover in some where exotic, then, come back, keep it as our lovely secret. Once I am ready for announcing, and arranging a wedding banquet, I will get married again in my own country!

My only concern is the validity of the country I am going to get married in, that's why I would be happier to sign the marriage certificate in my own country! And the get away would make everything more memorable!

Yes!!!! That would be exciting and so much fun to plan a wedding away from my home country. I have never left my country because I am afraid to fly, but I have made a goal, not to get married, but to visit a country or two when I save when I am working again.

oh, don't be afraid, fly is just so much fun and it's an exploration of the world which can leave so much memories to your life!

I am truly thinking about it. I can't go with family members because most of them are scared, too. I guess I have to plan with friends.

uh-huh ~ any particuar destination that you are very interested in ?

hmm it would be great to have the best day of our lives in a location new and loved by us.. it would be a wonderful experience which has to be turned to reality to explore happiness from the beginning

I have many. I want to go to Mexico. I love Mexican food and I would love to eat where the great flavors come from. Where in Mexico? I don't know yet. Second, Italy. Third, Japan.

You guys should consider Thailand too. The scenery and sea food was great at Koh Samui. Also, you might spend less all in all due to currency.

I have seen pictures of weddings in the Caribbean and that is so beautiful to me. Saves you about $15,000. I think. But the idea of it is so beautiful.

Marrying abroad is a brilliant idea. But take note, that other countries have rules and regulations that you must abide by and there are documents that need to be completed within their time limits etc...... You must know the system otherwise you just might not be getting married at all......
Italy is a great place, the caribbean also. So many nice places.

Yes I would - and yes I did! I It was HIS country though - I'm a Brit, and I married my Texan on top of Enchanted Rock - a gorgeous Texas state park - almost seven years ago!!
It was a very small ceremony where we literally tied the knot with a big bow which my hubby constructed!
It was actually much easier for us to marry in the states than it was the UK! But it meant lots of my family friends couldt go.. perhaps we needed a blog to cover it, so they wouldn't have missed out on everything!
Thanks for posting this talk topic - now I'm off to check out your blog!

i would get married in another country if i could afford it! when i got married, we went to the justice of the peace and none of our family was there. so if i could do it all over again and could afford to bring or families with us, i definitely would!
