Writing.... an Art or a Gift?

They say "writers are born, not made." There are writers out there who've inherited their flair for writing from their ancestors.Still others have thrived on learning experiences.And I even know of others who've developed a knack for writing because of the tragedies in life.
Whatever the reason or cause, there will always be brilliant writers and mediocre writers. The former you can detect by their gift of ideas and consistency and prolific work.The latter you can determine by their overused methods and cliche thoughts.

I think it has to be a little of both.
