Your Profile Picture on Bloggers and Elsewhere

Mrs Mulford on Blogging, Profile, Identity, Branding, Picture, Photo

I changed my profile pic recently on my blog plus a few other sites and it got me thinking... is your visual identity or blog name more important to you? How important is it for you to see a face ? There are some great names out there but great pictures are harder to find, unless you know of some? Sorry no links as above rules just ideas pls

In terms of a blog, I don't mind not seeing the person behind it. Knowing what the writer looks like will make no difference to how I interpret a blog.

On blogging forums, I tend to use a picture from my blog as my profile picture. Not because I hate my face, it is just all part of the branding and promotion.

If I was a walrus though, I probably would use my face.

Just a decent pic of your face would do if you really want to connect with the readers.

As a blogger, I don't mind putting my face up here and there. Its part of connecting with the people of the Internet. Either that, I just wanna get paid to be famous... Maybe.

As a fashion blogger, I know looks are important, but I personally don't care whether or not there's a face. Even if it's a beautiful landscape picture or something else, I may like it more. But I think it depends in the field of blogging your in. Fashion does place a big importance on appearance, but other fields might not.

Thanks for that perspective, so true. Love the blog name too. Best wishes Pauline aka Mrs Mulford

As part of this did you think of a Favicon for your blog at the same time? I can see all the techno guys have ;-)

My blog is a personal one so I don't mind sharing my face for the whole wide web to see. hehe... :) I think posting your real self is also a good way for the readers to know what you look like, not that they all mind but I guess if they want to be friends with you or connect with you, it's a good idea. :)
