I think its so simple to be happy but its so difficult to be simple.
I admire Mahatma Gandhiji's principles about Non-violence, Simplicity, Faith & Truth. He is my ideal Hero.From my childhood onwards I like to read about his articles, speech,etc.
Gandhi stated that the most important battle to fight was overcoming his own demons, fears, and insecurities.

I WAS PARTICULARLY AFFECTED BY THAT SCENE WHEN A WOMAN WAS BEATEN DOWN IN TALIBAN JUST BECAUSE AN INCH OF HER ANKLE WAS EXPOSED UNDER HER BUGRA.THOSE CREATURES WHO DID THAT PUNISHMENT WERE STILL LIVING IN THE 18th CENTURY FRAME OF MIND. TODAY THEY ARE WHAT YOU CALL HARD CORE INDIVIDUALS ,THE TRADITIONALISTS, AND THE HARD WING.
I STILL READ FROM TIME TO TIME THE SAME ATROCITIES COMMITTED TO WOMEN IN CERTAIN MUSLIM COUNTRIES.BUT OVER THERE IN MINDANAO,THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY HAVE ADJUSTED THEIR CLOTHING RULES. ANKLES ARE NOT THAT SENSITIVE ISSUE.

I did read your blog, very interesting and very sad. Unfortunatly people in America will never know true suffering and are very selfish feeling the world owes them. Let me state not everyone in America feels that way but many do. It must be very difficult living like this.

I read your blog on the Taliban. I am not going to lie. The taliban disgusts me. The bad thing is that I try to look at life from both sides. I can't do it in this situation. I don't understand the Taliban and I don't want to. I do want to understand why the men who love these women do not fight back. Why does it continue? I wouldn't kill anyone, but I would maim them for beating any one woman in my life. I would fight back and probably die in the process. I don't understand the mentality of these women and the men in their lives who do not fight back. I do a lot of complaining about America, but when I think about things like this I feel selfish. I feel blind. I feel sick. Maybe you could help give me the insight I need to understand the Taliban and their VICTIMS mind frames.

To further my comment, I find it sad that these women and children can't find refuge without leaving the place they have always known as home. America used to be a beacon of hope for people in these very types of situations. Now, due to fear of terrorism, if they make it to America they are treated with racism and suspicion. Immigrants are treated poorly. The truly sad thing is that Americans (not all, but some) have forgotten that we are all immigrants. With the acception of the Native Americans, we all came from somewhere else initially.

Taliban is a fundamentalist religious and political movement that governed Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001, when its leaders were removed from power, since 2004 they revived as a strong insurgency movement fighting a guerrilla war against the current government of Afghanistan, Pakistan,& other nations.Taliban claims that they are restoring Afghanistan & other nations to the "purity of Islam," & those who will not follow purity in Islam unfortunately they are the victims.

Thank you for the visit and the vote. The inspiration for "Measure of Success" was inspired by my brothers girlfriend. Her parents, not her, are wealthy. She called me a low life and said she was better than me because I am poor. That outraged me. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to yell at her. Rather than have a confrontation I wrote the blog.
