Kim,
I believe that supersitions and cultural beliefs can sometimes keep individuals from truly reaching their true self. They can impede further growth and even destroy a society. These beliefs can come in many shapes and forms- they can come from institutions or they simply can be passed on from person to person. At the end one can die and never really know the potential one had. Did I truly know myself? The owl simply reminded me of how I sometimes believe in things that don’t make sense including these cultural beliefs. In my blog the owl is simply a barrier that enables me to keep with the same-old and nothing really changes after. At the same time there are other things in my belief system that I don’t question or have not in the past. This keeps me in my cushy-comfort zone because I’m just rationalizing what I believe and never challenging the belief or where it comes from.
Thanks for the comments and I’ll check out your blog later today.
