I'm Vaish, and I'm just your average twenty-something year old girl trying to do what my mother refused to teach me as a kid: learn how to cook.
I'm a medical student and scientist by day and a self-proclaimed culinary student and blogger by night.
Growing up, my kick-ass Indian food making mom insisted that us kids stay out of the kitchen. To be fair, my mom was a teacher by day. So coming home to more long and messy lessons in the kitchen probably wasn't her cup of tea. Moving over a 1000 miles away from home, however, has forced me to graduate from my days of reheating home cooked meals and turn on the stove. I am proud to say that I have come far in this journey. No longer do I over cook my pasta or burn scrambled eggs. But there's a lot more to learn! I have never deep fried anything. The thought of making icing scares me. And let's not even talk about any of those fancy sauces...
Here you'll find vignettes that pair food and life. The way I see it, every meal has a story and every story is made even better when shared with food.
So here's my story...with A Side of Food.
