The theme of the book where the heart is a book about lessons of life. No matter what happens, or mistakes you make, all that matters is that you know where your heart is and how to use it and make it through. This book also proves you don’t need anybody to make you happy. Another lesson this book taught me is no matter were you go there’s always help.

Ladan Plot :Novalee is a young girl who is17 years old. She is pregnant and enrolls on a trip with her boyfriend Willie Jack to Oklahoma. She has never been in a real household. Shes only lived in trailer parks all her life up to date. Willie Jack tells her that once they move to Oklahoma they will have a house and will build a family together. On route to Oklahoma, they stop at a Wal-Mart in order for Novalee to purchase some new sandals and she is left there. Novalee has no education, skills nor does she have any money. With nowhere to go she decides to live in secrecy at the Wal-Mart, till she gives birth to her baby six weeks later. She becomes friends with some city citizen who keep her company throughout her stay at the Wal-Mart.
